LIQUID PROPANE

Module 25 provides students with an in-depth understanding of liquid propane and its many applications in the field. Throughout this course, you will learn about the properties and characteristics of propane, how it behaves under different conditions, and why proper handling is critical for both safety and efficiency.

The program also covers safe handling procedures, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge to work responsibly with propane in real-world situations. In addition, you will become familiar with the legal documents and regulations related to propane use, giving you the confidence to meet industry standards and compliance requirements.

Practical topics include an overview of propane system components such as pumps, compressors, and vaporizers. By understanding how these components function and interact, you will be better prepared to maintain, troubleshoot, and operate propane systems effectively.

Upon successful completion of Module 25, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, recognizing their achievement and readiness to apply their skills in the field. This certification not only demonstrates your competence but also enhances your professional qualifications within the trade.

Length: 32 hours

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Description: This program is not required to be approved under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.

 

Module 25 Overview

Students will study various aspects of liquid propane, including:

  • Properties and characteristics

  • Safe handling practices

  • Legal requirements

  • System components such as pumps, compressors, and vaporizers

Holders of an LP Certificate may:

Install, purge, activate, repair, alter, service, and remove liquid propane piping, tubing systems, and related components

 

Course Outline / Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, technicians will be able to:

Explain the physical properties of propane and its chemical reactions

Identify codes, standards, and regulations for propane installations

Understand the purpose, features, applications, requirements, testing, maintenance, and repair procedures for:

  • ISC valves

  • Pumps

  • Compressors

  • Emergency shut-off valves

  • Bulkheads

  • Vaporizers

  • Meters

  • Remote dispensing devices

  • Other propane components

 

Exam

Theory exam administered by QuickFast Service Academy upon course completion

 

Pre-requisite

Applicants must: Hold a valid G.1, G.2, GP, or IMT certificate

Provide proof of at least 80 hours of supervised work experience on liquid propane systems under an LP certificate holder
